Queens College Step Test: A submaximal Cardio Assessment

Testing Procedures: Queens College Step Tests

  1. Select the appropriate box height (16.25 in)

  2. Set metronome to proper step rate (men 96 bpm & women 88 bpm), and have the participant step for 3 minutes.

  3. Have your client remain standing after the exercise and palpate a 15 second HR. Calculate recovery heart rate by multiplying by 4.

  4. Write out the appropriate equation and calculate predicted VO2max ml/kg/min.

VO2 Max (Men) = 111.33 – (0.42 x HR)

VO2 Max (Women) = 65.81 – (0.1847 x HR)
